Since we have puke

Amelia Claire is sick.... she woke up to throw up 12 times during the night last night and has yet to keep anything, including water, down in her tummy.  For that reason, I haven't been able to truly craft anything and have nothing new in my arsenal of photo's to share so  .... I'll post a couple of things that are almost as good:

Until then my friends.... dine on the eye candy and keep on checking back.  I've got three more purses that have been ordered that need to be completed and three more classes to attend until this semester is over.

And then.... holy smokes, watch out ya'll......... I'm gonna be sewing like a crazy FOO!  Two quilts to begin plus two more to finish and a possible redo on a vintage toy bunk bead for Avonlea's Christmas gift and a vintage doll trunk I want to transform into something special for Amelia's Barbies/Pretty Ponies/Pet Shop thingies and her new Strawberry Shortcake dolls that Santa will be leaving.

And I'm soooo ready!  I can't wait to get all of my projects started and will be sure to share with ya'll here!!
 

Oh, and in case I'm rambling and making no sense... it's cause I have a sick little girl and a 15 month old mad-woman-baby buggin the doo out of me.  It's what she does.... she's good at it!  Sorry ahead of time for mispelllledd wurdz and runons and ons'!
 

Surprise!!

I've unearthed myself from under my school books and found my way back to my good old blog!  It feels good, really good!

(My little blog turns three this month and I plan to do a giveaway sometime in the next few weeks so be sure to check back often..... it'll be a good one too!)

Since it's been a few months I'll give a super quick update....

My little girls are growing... too quickly!

 
 
  I've also close my Plumtickled shop until the spring.  Meanwhile... I've opened a new one here:  www.TheCarpentersWife.etsy.com where I've been busy making purses!  I'm hoping that I'll have more time to add other grown-up stuff soon!

I will also be finishing my first semester of college this week.... WOW!  What an experience........ I've truly enjoyed it!  (I have all A's too, toot, toot!)

That's about it for now..... I'll be back later to report on the quilts I plan on making for Christmas gifts and a few other things that I think you crafty types will really like to see!

Oh, and a tutorial or two!

Quilts & Dogs

Months ago.... actually a little over a year ago, I bought this sweet.... sweet vintage quilt at a little antique mall in St. Mary's Ga while with my Mom and Amelia Claire.  I had a doctors appointment that day as I was pregnant with baby Avonlea.  We live in such a small town that we travel to one of the next towns for doctors and shopping.  We usually add a stop along the way... makes it so much more fun! 

 

When we first walked in, this quilt immediately caught my eye.  I'm a sucker for pink... pastels and anything from the 1930's - 1940's.  This one fit the bill perfectly! 

 

Then I did the sad trip down the side of the quilt for the price tag.... being pregnant with my fourth child and being a stay at home mom doesn't allow lots of splurging...... there's usually always a let down.  But, not this day!  No Maam.... the price tag said it was only $25.00!  I did my best to keep my cool but sooooo did the "internal clapping"...... totally going nuts inside my head ..... happy dancing was going on in there too!

I grabbed it and held it tight to my big belly.... I was in love.  It's handstitched, hand quilted and made from the most wonderful fabrics... little florals, bright solids and this print: 

 

This block just so happens to be my very favorite from this quilt.  If'n you look closely, you'll see little Scottie Dogs on a blue background. 

 

See them there.... little white ones, orange ones and yellow too!  Another quality I like about this quilt is whoever lovingly stitched this quilt together really put thought into it.  I see many older quilts that are pretty helter skelter... this one however, colors were thought about and matched. 

So totally "Color OCD" like me.  See why I like it so much? 

In celebration of having this lovely on my bed.... I adorned my pillow with this:

 

A very special vintage Scottie Dog pillowcase.  I adore this so  much.  I've saved it for years to make into a dress for Amelia but decided that I enjoy using it for what it was intended.

To lay my sleepy head upon it.... and dream of pinks, blues, greens, yellows, oranges and white........ lavender too!

I have many more quilts to share if ya'll are interested.  I'll do my best to get pictures taken and do a show and tell here and there.

This weekend, I'm cutting out Amelia Claire's Pre-K quilt for nap-time.  She picked out several Amy Butler Daisy Chain fabrics.... it's VERY pink with greens added too.  I'm still debating over the pattern.... she's gotten so picky.  Any ideas for a crib size quilt for a picky/artsy/tiger/cat/dog/pony/color loving little girl? 

I'll be sure to post pics when it's finished.... I'd love some ideas!

Soooo behind

It's been the usual for me, I'm behind.  So, so behind. 

But I have reasons.... very sweet, cute and cuddly reasons.

 

Our Avonlea had surgery today to insert tubes into her little ears.  She sure has had a time with those two things.... infections that just won't budge and fluid that sticks around so long that it turns to "Jello".  Nice.

After ten whole minutes of laughing gas induced sleep.... she was all done.  I think we've already seen a difference in how she feels. 

After all of the reflux and the ear infections.... her almost 11 months of life has been filled with a good amount of pain.  Who does it hurt worse, Avonlea or her parents?

I know the answer. 

All in all....... we're happy that she will be on the mend and free of pain.

She certainly deserves it.... we love this little baby so much.

(Time to start planning her 1st Birthday Party already.... sniff, sniff)

New beginnings.....

I'm officially a collge student.  I'll officially be 38 years old tomorrow.  I'll officially be older than 99% of my classmates.  But that's okay!

 

I'll be straight up kickin' it with the rest of them!

Not anymore! 

 

I whipped this baby up in about 15 minutes the other day.

I used the basic idea from "Bend the Rules Sewing" since it's such an quick and easy bag to make.  I made one for my Mom for her Birthday in April for her medication, I like her's way better!  Mine was more of a spur of the moment thing........... after looking down at that horrible bag it dawned on me that I should actually make myself something pretty. 

Just a question.... anyone out there that sews or creates pretty things to sell but never or rarely makes things for yourself, like me?  Why oh why do we do that?

Well, not me anymore!  I now put my face on with that pretty bag with pretty colors with a pretty embroidered flower by my side.  I suggest ya'll do the same.... TODAY!

It's washable too!

Where I've been...

Crazy-ville.... that's where!  I'm ashamed to have neglected my little blog for so long.... truly I am.  I've just been kinda slammed with orders, a messy home, a tired body and four kids.  Nuff said.

Last week however, my Mom generously invited Amelia Claire, Avonlea and myself to stay a week in a hotel overlooking the beach in Daytona Florida.  The beach was fun, the pool was cool, the shopping was great and the food was darn right yummy.  Here's a few pictures of that week ..... of course of just my girls so don't be kidding yourselves that there would be any of me in my suit!  Cracks me up!
