That was our slogan for two days last week while driving about Florida searching out Quilt shops. As you may know, we are opening a Quilt Shop/Fabric Shop and went on a research mission last week to soak up as much information we possibly could to help with our business. It was fun I tells ya! There were five of us ladies and of course my Amelia Claire........ here is what a two year old looks like at the end of a day full of fabric shopping and many miles in a car seat next to her crazy Aunt Debi:
Poor little zombie baby! Actually, it's how we all felt I think. This was taken at an Olive Garden somewhere in Florida....... I think near Dade City. Here is my Mom, sister Jerri-Lynn and Freezing Fran. Nice shot there Mom!
Here's Debi's best angle, she's such a ham ain't she?
I think we visited about 5 or 6 shops on the first day...... our favorite by far was Suwannee Valley Quilt Shop in Trenton Florida. Man, did we love this place! It was opened in an old Coca Cola building........ it has such character...... from the exposed old bricks, the paintings here and there, the dog with his green ball, Sonny the bird that copied Amelia's crying........ to the absolutely fabulously friendly people who worked there! We ate lunch:
Took some pictures:
Bought some fabric:
And talked to Sonny the bird....... he musta thought I was hot...... he kept whistling at me!
Then it was bedtime. I learned something the next morning........ when you spoil a two year old rotten, this is what you get:
Actually, it's from being a great Aunt! Then you have this Aunt...... make-up Amelia?
So, Mommy had to get back in the graces........ sure Mia..... jump all you want!
We ate breakfast and headed back out for more fabric........ here's a shot of Amelia feeling the terial. Isn't it funny how she does it too? When I see some I like/love, I have to run my hands up and down it. Enough to make my husband jealous I'm sure!
Back in the "freezing cold car"........ poor poor Freezing Fran........ BOooo HOOoooo HOooooo! So funny!
But, the best part of the trip....... I only wish I had a picture of it. On the way back to Jacksonville to visit our last shop, my Mom needed a potty break. So, we stopped at a rest area and let her out and then parked. She finally hobbled her tired body back to the car with Jerri Lynn...... when it happened! She was stepping off of the curb and was about to use the car to use as a brace when it happened........... I honked and then yelled........... I love fabric!!!!! It was the funnies thing I've ever seen! Good thing she and Jerri pee'd before it happened! Gosh, I wish you were there!
Tomorrow, I'll be back with more pictures of stuff. I mainly have more of the fabrics I bought, they're so pretty!
I'm also working on getting the Quilt shop blog started. I want to keep a blog of the journey we take for the opening and the running of Plumtickled Fabrics & Quilt Gatherings! I can't find any day by day information that could help us with this so I thought I could get one out there for anyone who wishes to try this too! Wish me luck!
